THE COURT RULED IN OUR FAVOR!

(Sean's Post)
James is now ours (pending the 15 day waiting period,of course). Maureen and I are just ecstatic. There was a scary moment there for a few minutes while there was a question about our paperwork. It all worked out in the end, and the judge ruled to allow us to complete the adoption of James.

It's all been a total surprise for James too. He was unsure of what all was going on, especially when we showed up at the hospital after court to pick him up. It was way past 7pm and already dark outside by this time, so we're sure he was confused. We gave him one more bottle while we were in Dr. Victoria's office signing more papers, dropped off our gifts for the caregivers, and then headed home. Other than the time he was transported from the Maternity Hospital to the Children's Hospital when he was a week old, he has never been outside. Ever. Just the first of many changes to come into his little life. But he was a trooper and took it all in stride. He even fell asleep for a little bit in the minivan on our way back to the apartment.

Out of the entire 20 days we had been visiting him, including this morning, we had yet to change a poopy diaper. Until today. James graced us with a really good one as soon as we got in the apartment. Talk about being fully initiated into parenthood!

So, now we're taking turns trying to get the little guy to sleep. He's fighting it big time. We're sure with all the changes he will need time to adjust, too, so we'll take it a day at a time.

Thanks again for all the prayers and thoughts! It's amazing to think about all that has happened in our lives to lead us to this point. We really feel that everything happens for a reason, and that we were meant to be right here, right now. The Lord has truly blessed us.

Update: Maureen finally got James to go to sleep and put him down in the crib. And it only took an hour and a half - haha.

That's our post for today! Paka! Love to all!
